Shackism #7

An ounce of appearance is worth a pound of performance.

I've given these Shackisms a little thought and there is usually a little story that goes with each one so, I thought I might share a little.

In this particular instance , and I'm sure we have all experienced it from time to time but there is always that person at work, or down at the club, that damn they look good, and seem to get all the attention for really doing nothing, but hell if they don't look the part. Never mind there are others that actually do the work and keep the place running.

Don't get me wrong it never hurts to look good or look the part, but the whole point of this statement is that you can't always trust what you see.

indeed. what you see is not always what you get. ;)

It's the way of the world. A saying where I work is that we are rarely rewarded for the work we do, and are occasionally rewarded for the work we don't.

People are not typically recognized their true contributions. I (and others) have gotten awards for work with which I was only peripherally associated. Politics, marketing, and timing are all factors.

A corollary to this Shackism could be "sometimes life isn't fair."
